Japanese manufacturer invented the “cool vest”, a mini air-conditioner is attached to a special gear, it is powered by battery and it is said could help to cool down body temperature. Besides the cool vest, outdoor workers are advised to take other precautions against heatstroke, such as avoiding the hottest hours of the day and drink more water.

Training Program for New Staff

The Hokuriku Electric Power Company in Japan has organized a special training program for its new staff – pole climbing exercise. Each one of them had to climb the pole in bare hands while attached with a safety belt. When they reached the highest point, they had to take their hands off the pole leaving the body to be supported by the rope only. This exercise often tests the climber’s strength, endurance and agility.
